Weekly Minute with Pastor Susan

Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we commemorate the 5th anniversary (June 17) of the Charleston Shooting at Mother Emanuel AME Church, and also lament the loss of innocent black and brown lives. We will confess our complicity, conscious or unconscious, with racist systems informed by white supremacy and ask for forgiveness. We will explore ways that we can support our black and brown siblings in the fight for justice. And we will praise God that we are given opportunities again and again to learn more about God and each......

A Note From The Parish Nurse

God’s blessings to each of you!  As I watch my container garden grow with yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, and basil, I am reminded of God’s loving care for us. God knows just what my garden needs. Food, water, soil, and light. Just as God knows what each plant needs, He knows what each of you need. Food, both physical and spiritual; water, both physical and transformational; soil, both physical roots and spiritual grounding; and LIGHT, both physical, spiritual, and God’s word. During this time of the unknown, where everything changes day......

A Note from the Director of Music

One of the things I like about Messiah Lutheran Church is our focus on diversity, whether it’s about championing women in roles of leadership and pastors, reaching out in acceptance and love towards the LGBTQ+ community or having an open door for people of color. But, we are still predominately a congregation of western European roots. As you have read and heard, we will be commemorating the shooting at the Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, SC five years ago. Your pastor and I have had long discussions about the choice of music......

A Note from the Church Office

This week we received $140 in KARM gift cards  thanks to your donations and volunteerism at local KARM Stores. Thank you! Messiah shares these cards with our neighbors in need who stop by and are in need of a hand up. This is the time of year when our homeless friends start transitioning their belonging from the heavier garb of the winter/spring and start seeking cooler clothing. So, as you can imagine, the gift cards come in very handy for them to be able to make that switch. Thank you for making......

A Note from the Church Office...

Can we have a restart on 2020? Raise your hand if you are in favor?  Our 2020 world is in chaos and turmoil. Frustration. Injustice. Loneliness. Anger. Outrage. Violence. Insecurity. Concern. Worry. Heartbreak. Sympathy. Anxiousness. Fear. Exhaustion. And so,so many more emotions. As The Church, we sense our need to be together – and yet we cannot gather in our common, life-giving place of worship. But we can come together as People of God to pray for all those who are hurting and in need of healing. And even for those who......

A Note from Your Parish Nurse...

Grace and peace to each of you.  As I speak with you, I am continually amazed at your resilience. Please know that this situation will require much more flexibility and resilience as we go forward. I am sure there are days that are beyond difficult. On those difficult days, please reach out to me or Pastor Susan. You are not alone! Even if you live alone, we are all one through Jesus Christ. We are not alone. God is with us. I am grateful to serve at a church that takes a......
