A Message from your Council President

By Beth Ford It is that time of year again. Did we not just finish 2017? How did 2018 pass so quickly? It is a logical time to consider all the gifts that we were given in 2018 and how we shared those gifts. It is, also, the time to think about how we can better serve God in 2019. In 2018, our Messiah family grew. When it could have been a temptation to sit back and feel sorry for ourselves, no one gave in to that as a possibility. We became......

From the Pastor

I recently had a medical checkup, (turned out OK), that included a memory check. I sometimes forget where I parked my car when I visit the mall or the hospital so I, (and some of my friends), thought it would be a good idea to see if I was losing my mind. After answering about an hour’s worth of questions, the doctor came to the conclusion that my memory was fine, I just didn’t pay attention! (Something my wife has been saying for years.) Still, as my wife pointed out, it could......

Messiah Enters the Digital Media Age

Submitted by Laura Nutzell, Social Media Coordinator Years ago when I was kid, I remember getting the mail for Mom. Once a month I’d see the brightly colored pages of the “Messiah Messenger” in the mailbox. Mom would read the entire newsletter, and put the calendar page on the fridge. But with time and technology, we moved to email, and used the print version less. (But until the day the she passed away, Mom always put the Messenger calendar page on the fridge. ❤️) When we are ready to call a new......

A Message from your Council President

By: Beth Ford, 2018 Council President  Sometimes I wait late in the year before I do what many people do at the first of the year when it is resolution time. I just do not always have time to spend in self examination in the middle of the holidays, the end of the semester, regular work, and the general busyness of December and January. This year that self reflection did not happen until June. Better late than never. During my week at the beach without the company of grandchildren, I did a......

From the Pastor

By: Reverend Larry K Richardson, Interim Co-Pastor I just returned from about three weeks of travel and I am now convinced that I never want to leave home again. I expect I’ll get over that aversion to being “on the road” after a while, but not anytime soon. I did, however, get to travel with my granddaughters whose company I enjoyed almost all the time. (I really sound like a grumpy old man, don’t I? Which is exactly the term my wife used.) It is truly extraordinary to see the world through......

A Journey to Success!

Submitted by: Kristin Kennedy for the Benevolence Team On a very rainy day in January 2006, a woman stopped by the church office in her hour of desperation. She resembled a soaking wet, frightened kitten. She needed financial assistance to be able to stay in a recovery program—her last hope of getting out of the deep darkness which ruled her life at the time. Messiah came to her aid. The Benevolence Team’s thought was, “If we are going to help someone, let’s REALLY help them.” We determined that we would pay her......
