Youth Faith Formation
The desire of the Youth Discipleship Team is for the youth of Messiah Lutheran Church to be empowered with a living faith and a firm foundation as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Rally Day is set as September 12 and will mark the beginning of our fall programming.
During the Sunday school hour that day, the youth calendar board will be in the fellowship hall for youth and parents to sign up to sponsored calendared events for the 2010/2011 year. Plan to bring your calendar and sign up where you can serve.
Beginning Sept. 12, Confirmation and high school youth groups will meet on Sundays from 5:30-7:30 pm. Youth are to bring a sack supper. In an effort to provide a balance of time and experience, the month will run as follows:
• 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month - Instruction or Bible study
• 2nd Sunday of the Month - Fun
• 4th Sunday of the Month - Service
• 5th Sunday of the Month - Youth Worship
Youth will worship together in a service designed and implemented by them. This will assist in building community as well as inspiration for future Youth Sundays.
The Youth Discipleship Team is already planning for next summer. Campfirmation Camp for those completing 6th,7th, and 8th grades and participation in AFFIRM for 7th-12th graders will be promoted.
In addition, a mission trip to Guatemala next summer is being planned. The ELCA currently has a companion Synod in Guatemala with whom we will be working and our own Vowell family has personal connections to this area. Watch the bulletin and Messenger for updates on this trip.
