Messiah has a new AED (automated external defibrillator)!

Mary Sophia Hawks Parish NUrch

What’s an AED? An AED allows a lay person to provide care to someone during a heart emergency. Use of an AED greatly increases someone’s ability to survive a heart attack.

The previous AED was purchased my first year at Messiah, almost nine years ago. In August 2020, it quit working. After researching all the available AED’s, I decided on the Zoll AED 3.

The AED is fully automatic, so no one has to push the shock button. This model also has video instructions right on the model plus loud voice instructions. All you need to do is push the power button in the upper left hand corner and follow the instructions. The pads can be used for adults or children (not infants) simply by pressing the child button in the lower right corner. The AED is in the hallway by Kristin’s door in a white box.

I will be preparing a Power Point presentation on the AED to share in a Zoom meeting with the congregation, so be on the lookout for that!

Blessings and health to you,

Mary Sophia
