Weekly Minute with Pastor Susan

Dear ones,

Several items are important to share with you this week.

First, The Covid-19 Response Team met this week, and have decided that since things seem to change pretty quickly, we will share with you the revised Phased Reopening plan as revised after the town hall meeting a month ago. We are calling it “Church Phases 4.0” fully understanding that it is not “final” but is expected to continue to be revised and improved as we learn more and circumstances change. We are planning to post links to it on the website and Facebook page for your information. Please note that we will need quite a few volunteers before our first “in-person” worship of 50 or less to help with setting up, keeping track of who’s coming to worship and cleaning between worship opportunities, among other things. We will need a volunteer coordinator so if you are interested in serving in that important role, please contact me or anyone on the Covid Response Team!

WE STILL DO NOT HAVE A DATE for resuming in-person worship, but I am developing a plan to offer communion from time to time following our Sunday morning worship services. Those who desire communion and have participated in worship online will be invited to drive to the church after worship to receive communion from me while remaining in your car. We are working out the safest possible method, so more on that later. For those who cannot drive or who feel too vulnerable to come to the church, we are considering other ways of providing the sacrament. This may involve a renewed Eucharistic ministry team, so if you feel called to participate in that, again, please let me know.

In the meantime, I invite you to contact me if you have a strong desire to attend worship in the “less than 10” group that produces the e-service on Sunday mornings. We typically have 5-6 people present, and are permitted to have up to 10. We would like to make a list of those who want to come and be present during the live-streamed service, and then “invite’ folks on that list to come participate on a revolving basis. Another way to be included in the service is to volunteer to be trained in the AV roles, soloist, or as worship assistant. We may be able to begin having a lector in addition to the assisting minister, if we can keep the numbers right.

Please keep on reading this: we are adding a weekly “minute for mission” to these weekly emails, with a brief report on what the ministry teams are up to in planning how to convert our processes to more virtual events. This week Angela has a word about the Disciple Team.

Always with joy and wonder at the amazing and abundant love and grace of God.
