Weekly Minute with Pastor Susan

Dear ones,

With two weddings and a funeral behind me, and my mother getting settled at Shannondale, I’m getting excited about everything we’ve been planning for the coming months. I’m really realizing just how much the Covid-chaos has affected our thinking and planning. I, for one, at first had hoped that by August 1 (actually I first anticipated July 1) we would be resuming many of our “normal” activities, with the addition of continuing to provide online worship. I think that in June, however, I realized we may be in this for the long haul, and had begun encouraging teams and individuals to help plan just how we were going to get some of our ministry goals going while observing the restrictions of the post-Covid world.

I’m especially proud of the Invite Team who pulled together a warm welcome for our newest members, the Covid-19 Task Group, the new Personnel Team, the Worship Team that has developed a respectable Facebook presence, and the whole congregation for continuing to stay the course (albeit with new and different methods) of supporting the ministry and mission of this congregation! We are developing a Mutual Ministry Team (you’ll hear more about that later) and I hope to have a new prayer initiative to launch soon. I’ve also heard many people express their excitement things about our summer art project (so send in those squares before Sept. 1!).

I lost most of July because of family stuff, but I am ready to set goals with the ministry teams to get online faith formation for adults, confirmation, stewardship, and fellowship opportunities ready to roll out in September. I’m grateful to Pastor Dave who has volunteered to make some pastoral calls in my stead as we move forward. I’ve missed those conversations, but feel reassured that he will be more available to contact folks than I have been in the last few months.

So, keep an eye on your email, and share the word when you learn of how we will kick off the Fall.

Always amazed by our God of grace, mercy and love —-
